In 2016, the National Park Service assigned the Manufacturing Solutions Group the considerable task of crafting a Turf Protection System for the 2017 Presidential Inauguration. The project came on the heels of a $40 million renovation of the National Mall, urging the NPS to protect this fresh, national green space. MSG’s expertise in handling large-scale tooling and molding projects made us an apt choice for this vital venture.
Immediately plunging into this grand undertaking, we perceived it as an excellent opportunity to highlight our comprehensive skillset, spanning from conceptual design, through tooling, to actual manufacturing. The task promised to encapsulate our proficiency at handling high volume projects within stringent timelines and to bring a product from inception to completion.
Operating within a tight five-month deadline, we knew there was no margin for slip-ups; success was imperative on our initial attempt. Consequently, we crafted panels, each spanning eight square feet, from robust polypro and nylon materials. In total, we manufactured a million square feet worth of panels to shroud the National Mall. It was essential that these units were not only easily manageable but also tough enough to prevent any harm to the Mall’s grass.
Our endeavours culminated in a high-quality finished product, delivered within the stipulated timeframe, much to the delight of the customer. This endeavour underscored our prowess in undertaking massive projects within a rigid deadline, manifesting our reliability and dedication.
